Vikings Set For Friendship Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State cross country team will run in its third race of the 2015 season this weekend, competing in the 25th Annual Friendship Invitational. The women's 5K race is slated to start at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 19 at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.

Over the past six seasons, the Vikings have recorded five top-10 individual finishes at the Friendship Invitational, including an all-time best fourth place finish from Allison Craine during the 2011 season. As a team, CSU has finished as the runner-up twice - 2013 and 2014.

Last time out the Vikings were paced by freshman Marissa Sell who improved her 5K time from the first race of the season, finishing 21st overall at the Running Fit Detroit Titan Invitational with a time of 20:24. Sophomores Emily Marshall and Kristin McCarthy also recorded personal-best 5K times last weekend – Marshall with a 21:54 and McCarthy with a 21:42.

Freshman Victoria Bonca ran in her first collegiate race last weekend, finishing the 5K course in a time of 25:13. For a complete list of race-by-race results for the Vikings CLICK HERE.
