The 2014 Horizon League Championship will be a 6K race, and is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. EST. The men's 8K race will begin at 1:00 p.m. EST following the women's race.
Saturday's race will be CSU's second 6K of the season, as the All-Ohio Championship back on October 3 was also a 6K race. The quartet of Ashlyn Woods, Samantha Butterbaugh, Katie Webb, and Alanna Shamrock led the Vikings at the All-Ohio Championship with top-50 finishes. Woods recorded CSU's best 6K time of the season (23:37), while Webb (24:01) and Shamrock (24:18) both posted career-best times.
Entering this weekend's championship race, Woods has been Cleveland State's top finisher for five consecutive races, and has recorded three top-20 finishes during that span. Webb and Butterbaugh have combined to be CSU's second and third finishers four times this season – both recording career-best 5K and 6K times.
Four Vikings recorded top-35 all-time 6K performances at the All-Ohio Championships earlier this season, led by Woods' time of 23:37 which ranks eighth. Butterbaugh (23:53 – 13th), Webb (24:01 – 20th), and Shamrock (24:18 – 31st) also made the list.
Cleveland State has also posted 11 top-50 5K performances this year, with Woods owning five of the times and Webb owning three.
