Cross Country Ready For Friendship Invitational

Course Map

THIS WEEKEND
The Cleveland State cross country team will continue the 2013 season this weekend, competing in the Friendship Invitational. The women's 6K, which will take place at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course on the Cedarville campus, is set for a 10:15 a.m. start. This will be CSU's first 6K of the season.

THREE FINISH WITH SUB 20-MINUTE 5K TIMES
Last weekend at the Ohio Invitational, the trio of Ashlyn Woods (19:14), Erin Pavick (19:15) and Tori Holt (19:28) all notched sub 20-minute 5K times – marking the first time since the 2011 season that three Viking runners recorded sub 20-minute 5Ks in the same race. The last time this happened was on October 7, 2011 when Allison Craine, Kendra Kezur and Kelly Zaleski all crossed the finish line before the 20-minute mark.

FOUR NOTCH LIFETIME-BESTS AT OHIO INVITATIONAL
The freshmen quartet of Ashlyn Woods, Erin Pavick, Ameila Holt and Shannon Kruger not only recorded collegiate career-best times last weekend, but they also notched lifetime-best marks at the Ohio Invitational. Woods (19:14) and Pavick (19:15) both posted top-10 finishes, while Holt (20:26) and Kruger (21:30) notched top-30 times.

ALL-TIME TOP PERFORMANCES
After their performances last Saturday, three Vikings landed on the All-Time Top Performances list under Joe Jaketic, including Ashlyn Woods whose time of 19:14 tied her for 12th all-time. Joining Woods on the list was Erin Pavick (14th) and Tori Holt (T-24th). The list includes the top-50 5K times since the 2005 season when Jaketic became head coach of the Vikings. TOP TIMES

…HOLT RETURNS IN TOP FORM
After missing the first two races of the year due to a preseason injury, Tori Holt made her debut appearance at the Ohio Invitational, posting a 5K time of 19:28 – just seconds off of her career-best time. Holt has now posted a sub 20-minute finish in her last eight 5K races.

WOODS LEADING THE PACK
Freshman Ashlyn Woods has paced the Vikings in all three races this season, becoming the first freshman to be CSU's top finisher in the first three races of the year since the 2007 season when Allison Craine paced CSU in all eight races. Woods has bettered her 5K time each week, including a lifetime-best mark of 19:14 last Saturday at the Ohio Invitational.
