CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State cross country team will conclude the 2012 season this Friday (Nov. 9), when they participate in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The Vikings will be one of 32 teams competing at the Great Lakes Regional, including Horizon League opponents Detroit, Green Bay, Milwaukee and Valparaiso.
This will be the first 6K race of the season for Cleveland State, as the other eight races this year have been run on 5K courses. Because of that, only five Vikings have run a 6K course during their collegiate career, with Tori Holt holding the top time of 24:38 which she recorded at the Ohio Invitational last season. Ashley Berlin (29:47), Angela Kirila (26:03) and Katie Webb (25:04) also recorded their best 6K times at the Ohio Invite last year, while Rachel Niemi posted her best 6K mark (25:32) at the Falcon Invitational during 2009.
Last time out, CSU competed at the Horizon League Championship, with five runners recording personal best times. Holt was CSU's top finisher at the meet, placing 26th overall with a time of 19:13. Holt's time marked the 11th fastest 5K at CSU since 2005, while she also owns five other top-40 5K times at CSU.
Also recording personal best times at the league meet were; Berlin (21:14), Kirila (20:56), Maddie Korak (20:34) and Megan O'Keefe (21:36).
