CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Cleveland State cross country team will continue the 2012 season this weekend, participating in the 26th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 8). The women's intercollegiate 5,000 meter race is scheduled for an 11:15 a.m. start at Cass-Benton Park in Northville, Mich.

The Vikings will be one of 14 teams competing in the Titan Invitational, joined by BGSU Track Club, Bucknell, Cleary, Concordia, Lawrence Tech, Macomb CC, Madonna, Marygrove, Michigan-Dearborn, Oakland CC, Schoolcraft, Wayne State and the host Titans.
Last season, Cleveland State placed fourth as a team at the Titan Invite, while Katie Webb (23rd - 21:04) and Tori Holt (24th - 21:07) each posted top-25 finishes for the Vikings.
CSU opened the 2012 season last weekend at the Flyer 5K Challenge, led by freshman Ashley Lydic who placed 52nd overall (21:04) in her first collegiate race. Lydic's classmate Maddie Korak was the third Viking to cross the line (60th - 21:31), while sophomore co-captain Katie Webb finished second (54th - 21:14) for CSU.

The trio of Rachel Niemi, Ashley Berlin and Angela Kirila all bettered their times from last season's Flyer 5K Challenge, led by Kirila who crossed the finish line in 22:33. Niemi crossed the finish line in 23:15 and Berlin finished in a time of 24:31. Megan O'Keefe and Amanda Kalain also ran in the Flyer 5K Challenge, crossing the line in 23:27 and 24:56, respectively, in their first race as Vikings.
