CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State junior outside hitter Kara Koch was recently named the Collegiate Volleyball Update National Player of the Week for Oct. 31 through Nov. 6. The award comes after Koch was named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week following a pair of victories against UIC and Valparaiso last weekend.

For the weekend, Koch averaged 6.33 kills per set on a .349 hitting percentage with 3.0 digs per set. Koch posted a school-record 35 kills in the five-set victory over UIC last Friday (Nov. 4), along with posting the highest single-match total in the Horizon League this season.

Koch then became the 14th Viking to reach the 1,000-kill milestone against Valparaiso (Nov. 12), as she tallied a match-high 22 kills. Entering the final week of the regular season she has 1,005 kills on her career, and ranks second in the league with 357 (4.10 per set) this season.

Koch is the first Viking to earn the CVU.com honor and the fifth overall from the Horizon League.
