CLEVELAND - Mount Vernon (Ohio) High School senior outside hitter Lindsey Griffith has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Cleveland State and play volleyball beginning in the fall of 2007. CSU head coach Chuck Voss made the announcement on Monday.

"Lindsey is a phenomenal athlete who has the ability to dominate matches," Voss said. She will add depth to our team and will challenge our returning outside hitters for playing time. She comes from a great background, and we are thrilled that she is joining our CSU family."

A two-time all-district and all-conference honoree, the 5-10 Griffith is a three-time team MVP. A member of the National Honor Society, she was a four-year starter on the volleyball squad while also earning a pair of letters on the basketball team.

Griffith joins Amy Benz (Tiffin, Ohio), who signed with the Vikings in the fall, and libero Meghan Mental (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) as the incoming freshman class for 2007-08.

Cleveland State returns five starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team that finished 19-9 overall and in second place in the Horizon League with an 8-6 mark.
