KENT, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore Amy Benz had 17 kills and junior Kayla Lefeld added 15 as the Vikings hit .388 as a team to defeat Kent State, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon in the season finale for both teams.
Match scores were 25-16, 25-12, 22-25, 25-7.
The Vikings conclude the 2008 season with an overall mark of 11-19, while Kent finishes 13-18.
CSU's attack percentage was its second highest of the season, topped only by a .392 effort vs. Chicago State on Aug. 30.
Benz, who last week was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament team, finished with 17 kills and just one error in 24 attempts (.667). Beth Greulich added 12 kills, hitting .476 for the match.
CSU hit .444 (16-4-27) in the opening set before coming back to record a .435 (11-1-23) attack percentage in set two. After dropping the third set, the Vikings hit .500 (12-2-20) to close out the Golden Flashes.
Jordan Goad recorded 45 assists and eight digs, while Maggie Bonomini had a match-best 10 digs.
Laruen Simon had nine kills and Kristen Barr totaled nine digs to lead Kent.
