INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Kara Koch had 14 kills and Amy Grabiec made 24 digs, but Cleveland State dropped its regular season finale, 3-1, at Butler on Saturday evening in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Match scores were 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 25-15.

The loss drops the Vikings to 21-6 overall and 11-5 in the league, while Butler improves to 19-9 overall and 13-3 in league play. The win also allowed the Bulldogs to clinch the No. 2 seed in next week's Horizon League Championship that will be played in Milwaukee from Friday through Sunday (Nov. 19-21).

CSU will enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed and play a first round match on Friday against sixth seeded UIC at a time to be determined.

"We would have really liked to get that No. 2 seed and bye to the semifinals with a win today, but just couldn't get it done," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We made to many errors and mistakes early on and got behind 2-0 and were not able to fight back. I was proud with the way we battled back to win the third set.

"We'll have to work hard on some things this week as we prepare for the league tournament, but we'll go in knowing that we can play with any team in the league as we have shown this year."

Koch added nine digs to just miss a double-double.

Lindsay Griffith was the only other Viking to record double-digit kills with 11, while Jackie Dabbelt finished with nine and Amy Benz had seven.

Jordan Goad notched 30 assists, while Amanda Medvetz (12) and Brittany Holland (11) also reached double-digit digs.
