Viking Spikers Upend UW-Green Bay In Four

CLEVELAND - Middle hitter Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/Chanel) slammed down 21 kills to lead Cleveland State to a 22-30, 30-24, 30-24, 30-26 victory over visiting UW-Green Bay in Horizon League action Saturday afternoon at Woodling Gymnasium.

For the second match in a row Bouyer was an offensive force, hitting .436 against the Phoenix. On Friday night, the 6-2 sophomore recorded a career-high 24 kills and hit. 600 in a loss to UW-Milwaukee.

Senior Michelle Iafigliola (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and freshman Alisa Hatcher (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) also helped the Viking cause with 16 kills apiece.

However, UWGB's Janelle Tomlinson took match-honors with 22 kills while hitting .381. Jessie Theys also hit double digits for the Phoenix with 11 kills.

Defensively, Bouyer also got it done with seven block assists while Iafigliola chipped in with four. Freshman Katie Calhoon (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison) led the Vikings with 14 digs and Iafigliola added 13.

For UWGB, Krystle Lange tallied a match-high 17 digs with Tomlinson adding 16.

After starting off the match by hitting .080 in Game 1, the Vikings rebounded by hitting .311 (72K-20E-167TA) for the match. In the deciding Game 4, CSU committed just three errors en route to a .500 efficiency. UWGB hit .222 (58K-24E-153TA) for the match.
