CLEVELAND - Sophomore Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/Chanel) put down a career-high 24 kills for Cleveland State but the Vikings fell short in their bid to upset league-leading UW-Milwaukee, falling to the Panthers 26-30, 30-24, 30-19, 31-29 at Woodling Gym Friday night.

UWM, ranked fourth in the Midwest region this week, improved to 9-1 in the Horizon League and 14-11. The Vikings dropped to 16-9 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Bouyer, a middle hitter, hit a sizzling .600, committing just three errors in 35 attempts. Her match-high 24 kills topped her previous high of 20 taken against UW-Green Bay on Oct. 5, 2001.

Senior Michelle Iafigliola (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and freshman Alisa Hatcher (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine), both outside hitters, joined Bouyer in double figures with 17 and 11 kills, respectively.

Senior Tari Boutin paced the Panthers with 19 kills, while junior Sarah Potts knocked down 16, Larissa Cattanach recorded 12 and Karen Fruit had 11. Potts and Fruit also notched double digit digs - Potts with a match-high 17 and Fruit with 10.

For the match, UWM hit .265 (69K-28E-155TA) while the Vikings hit .278 (64K-22E-151TA).

CSU will remain at home Saturday to take on UW-Green Bay at 2 p.m. in Woodling Gym.
