CLEVELAND, Ohio - Behind a balanced offensive effort and a .381 team hitting percentage, the Cleveland State volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Youngstown State Friday evening. With the win, the Vikings improve to 16-6 overall and 9-2 in the Horizon League.

Set scores against the Penguins were 25-21, 25-14, 25-11.

"I thought Jordan did a great job of getting the ball to all of our attackers tonight, and putting them in a position where they could be successful," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We were able to find out what worked for us tonight and continue to use that outlet which allowed us to come away with the win."

The Vikings were able to gain a five-point advantage at the 16-11 mark during the opening set and held at least a three point lead for the rest of the frame. CSU was finally able to put the set away with a Jackie Dabbelt kill.

CSU dominated play during the second set, earning a 25-14 victory. The Vikings posted 11 of the final 12 points during the set, with kills from Dabbelt, Ally Beck, Marie Frease, Megan Barhorst and Kara Koch.

The Vikings continued that dominance during the third set, as they cruised to a 25-11 victory. Throughout the set CSU had strings of seven and six straight points, and ended the frame on a Maggie Hannon kill.

"During the last game and half tonight we played the way we were playing earlier this season which was very exciting to see. We had a stretch where we were on the road for long periods of time and we weren't able to put things together, but we have been getting much better over the past couple matches. Playing at Milwaukee next week will be a tremendous challenge for us, but I'm looking forward to it."

Koch and Barhosrt had eight kills each to lead the Viking offense, while Beck tied her career-high with seven. Jordan Goad dished out 31 assists, while Koch had a match-high 13 digs. Frease tallied four block assists against the Penguins, while Goad added three and Koch posted two.

The Vikings return to action next Saturday (Oct. 29) when CSU travels to Wisconsin for a 5:00 p.m. EST contest at league-leading Milwaukee.
