CLEVELAND, Ohio- Kara Koch had a game-high 15 kills, but the Vikings were swept in straight sets by Bowling Green Tuesday night at Woodling Gym. It was only the second home loss for the Vikings this year.

"You have to give Bowling Green credit for the way they played tonight," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We did not come out with a lot of intensity or enthusiasm and we will have to find a way to fix that quickly because we have two very difficult road matches this weekend."

The loss takes the Vikings to 16-3 and the win propels Bowing Green to 7-16.

Match score were 26-24, 25-19, and 25-22.

The Vikings actually saw set point, but Bowling Green rallied for two straight points and were able to capture for the first set, 26-24. Kara Koch had six kills in the set, but it was not enough to put away the Falcons.

The Falcons were able to continue the hot hand as they scored the first 15 of 22 points to start the second set. The Vikings were able to rally later in the set separate rallies of three straight points each and made it 20-14 and got within reach at 23-19. The Falcons were just too much for Cleveland State and got the final five it needed for the set win as the Viking rally came up short.

Cleveland State came out fresh from the break and scored the first four out of five points to start the third set. Bowling Green battled back and got within a point at 12-11, tied the set at 14-14, and took the lead at 15-14. A Kara Koch kill tied the game back up at 15 apiece, but Bowling Green took the lead back and would not allow the Vikings to mount a comeback.

The Vikings next take the Wisconsin tour of the Horizon League when they face Green Bay on Friday night (Oct 22) at 8:00 p.m. ET and Milwaukee Saturday (Oct 23) at 5:00 p.m.
