CLEVELAND - Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/Chanel) cut it close, but still managed to make history in front of the home crowd Tuesday night at Woodling Gymnasium. The junior middle hitter's 21st kill of the night, and the 1,000th of her career, ended Cleveland State's 30-26, 30-23, 30-20 victory over Robert Morris (10-10). Bouyer becomes just the eighth Viking in 32 seasons to reach the career milestone. The sweep was the ninth of the year for CSU, which improved to 12-8 overall.

"Jamie's grown tremendously since her freshman year," said CSU head coach Chuck Voss. "She worked really hard to transform herself from a good athlete into a great volleyball player."

Bouyer recorded nine kills in the first game and six in each of the last two frames. She made just three errors in 29 swings for a .621 hitting percentage and added a match-best seven blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Maddocks (Norwalk, Ohio/Norwalk) tallied nine kills and eight digs, while sophomore outside hitter Alisa Hatcher (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) led all players with 16 digs.

Megan Bell and Breanne Schenk finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively for the Colonials, while Darcy Thompson posted 14 digs.

"I thought we played very well at times, but were still too inconsistent," pointed out Voss. "But when it counted, we found a way to win."

Cleveland State is in action again this weekend when the Vikings travel to Butler on Friday, Oct. 10 for an 8:00 p.m. EDT match, followed by a 4:00 p.m. contest the next day at Wright State.
