CLEVELAND, Ohio--After coming off a straight set win against Butler the day before at Woodling Gym, Cleveland State did the same just 26 hours later to Wright State. Kara Koch had 12 kills, Amy Benz had 10 kills, and Jordan Goad added 40 assists.

"That was probably out best game of the year," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We really liked how we played, we communicated well, and we focused."

Match scores were 25-18, 25-16, and 25-18.

"If we can play like this on the road, we are going to be a tough team to beat," Voss said.

The win moves Cleveland State to 13-1 and 5-1 in league play.

With serving help from Amy Grabiec, the Vikings came out to a flying start in the first set and was able to rattle out to a quick 4-0 lead. That lead was enough for the Vikes as Wright State would not get within three points from that mark. Cleveland State hit .364 for the set as Amy Benz had five kills in the frame and Kara Koch had a dozen assists to go along with her four kills.

The second set was much like the first, as Amy Grabiec put the Vikings into position to roll through the set. Despite the Raiders tying the set up at 2, Cleveland State took the next five points and never looked back. The Vikings had two different runs of four points, including the last four of the set.

Cleveland State opened up a 16-6 lead in the final set. The Vikings would move out to a 20-8 lead, but Wright State would not go away. The Raiders scored the next 10 out of 15 points and got the game to 24-18. Cleveland State got their final point, but not before the Raiders rally.

Wright State falls to 7-11 and 2-3 against Horizon League opponents.

The Vikings have a weekend road trip next, as they head to Valparaiso on Saturday (Oct 9) at 8:00 p.m. and Loyola on Sunday (October 10) at 5:00 p.m.
