Viking Volleyball Posts Fourth Straight Victory

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State dominated in the hitting department as the Vikings (4-2) upended Canisius 30-25, 30-10, 30-13 in a match that took 53 minutes on Saturday afternoon at Woodling Gymnasium at the CSU Volleyball Invitational.

After dropping the first two matches of the year, CSU has run off four straight wins.

Freshman middle hitter Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) knocked down a game-high 12 kills for the Vikings while hitting .400 and junior outside hitter Michelle Iafigliola (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) added 10 kills. In addition, freshman setter Kelly Crain (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) turned in a solid game, recording five service aces, three blocks and six kills. She hit .625 for the match.

The Vikes hit .330 (44K-14E-91TA) while the Golden Griffins struggled at -.169 (16K-31E-89TA). The Viking defense accounted for 10 team blocks with Bouyer, Iafigliola and junior Kristine Dabbelt (Batavia, Ohio/Batavia) racking up four blocks each.
