Cleveland State Volleyball Signs Four For 2023 Campaign

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State volleyball head coach Chuck Voss announced his recruiting class for the upcoming 2023 campaign Thursday, as Allana Appleby (Shaker Heights, Ohio), Destiney Goss (Maple Heights, Ohio), Nia Hall (Lorain, Ohio), and JeriLynn Koehler (New Lexington, Ohio) have all signed National Letters of Intent to attend Cleveland State University beginning next fall. 

"This is an extremely talented offensive class that will add firepower and size to our team," Voss said. "All four players can touch the rim and play multiple front row positions for us, which will help our depth for the upcoming season."

ALLANA APPLEBY | MB | SHAKER HEIGHTS, OHIO
Appleby is set to join the Vikings after being a four-year varsity player at Shaker Heights, helping the Raiders to three straight Lake Erie League championships as a sophomore, junior and senior. 

During her high school career, Appleby was a two-time First Team All-LEL honoree, All-District Honorable Mention, 2020 Shaker Heights Offensive Player of the Year, and 2021 Shaker Heights Defensive Player of the Year. 

Appleby, who has been a four-year Honor Roll member, plans on majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

Voss On Appleby: "Allana is a fiery player who will add immediate depth in the middle."

DESTINEY GOSS | MH | MAPLE HEIGHTS, OHIO
Goss comes to Cleveland State after being a four-year letterwinner at Maple Heights. As a senior, Goss helped the Mustangs become co-champions in the Lake Erie League, going on to earn LEL Player of the Year accolades.

As a two-year All-Lake Erie League honoree, Goss was named the Offensive Player of the Year as a junior and the Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.

Goss plans on majoring in psychology.

Voss On Goss: "Destiney is a very competitive player who will develop quickly in our gym."

NIA HALL | OH | LORAIN, OHIO
Hall will join the Vikings after finishing her prep career with 1,215 kills on a .365 hitting percentage. As a junior, Hall helped Amherst Steele capture a District and Regional championship, while advancing to the Final Four of the state tournament. 

As an All-Ohio, All-County and All-Southwestern Conference honoree, Hall has been named Player of the Year in the SWC, Lorain County, and District 3. 

Hall, who was an Honor Roll member and Scholar Student, plans on majoring in nursing.

Voss On Hall: "Nia is a dynamic outside hitter who has good ball control and the ability to terminate all over the net."

JERILYNN KOEHLER | MB | NEW LEXINGTON, OHIO
Koehler comes to Cleveland State after spending her prep career at New Lexington, where she helped the Panthers capture a District championship and finish as the Regional runner-up. 

During her high school career, Koehler was named First Team All-Muskingum Valley four times, while taking home MVL Offensive Player of the Year accolades as a senior. In addition, she was a three-time First Team All-District and All-Ohio Honorable Mention honoree. 

Koehler, who served as the Class President and was a member of the National Honor Society, plans on majoring in health sciences, pre-physical therapy.

Voss On Koehler: "JeriLynn has made significant improvement over the last year, and is capable of playing all three front row positions for us."
