CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State University volleyball team battled visiting Wright State throughout the evening, but the Raiders were able to outlast the Vikings and claim a 3-2 victory Wednesday evening in Woodling Gym.

Emily DeGeorge, Christina Grecol and Trinniti Hall each posted a double-double in the setback for the Vikings.
Hall led CSU with 14 kills while also adding 14 digs on the evening. DeGeorge topped the Vikings with 17 digs and added 11 kills and four blocks. Grecol posted 41 assists and 10 digs along with a pair of service aces.
With her 14 kills, Hall surpassed 900 kills for her career as she ended the match with 903. Grecol ended the match just seven assists shy of becoming the eighth Viking in program history to reach 2,000 career helpers.
London Portis also reached double figures in kills (10) while Audrey McConihe did so in the digs category (11).
Chelsea Penfield posted six kills on just 11 attempts and hit .455 for the match.
Cleveland State jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the opening set of the match, as DeGeorge posted two kills and an ace in that stretch while Grecol also had two kills. The Vikings had increased their lead to six points, 18-12, when the Raiders battled back. Wright State used a 10-3 run to take a 22-21 lead. The Vikings then ran off three straight points, two on kills by Greene, to earn a pair of set points. CSU would convert its second set point on a kill by Hall.
The second set was the opposite of the first as Wright State jumped out early. Holding a 5-3 edge, the Raiders ran off five consecutive points and led by at least six points for the remainder of the frame.
The third set was a back-and-forth affair. The Raiders jumped out to a 6-3 edge, but the Vikings put together three straight points, including back-to-back aces by Grecol, to knot the set. The Raiders then used four straight points to take a 10-6 lead. After a CSU timeout, Cleveland State went on a 7-1 run to take a 13-11 lead. The Vikings maintained their two-point lead until 17-15, but the Raiders closed the set on a 10-3 run to take the lead in the match.
With the score tied, 4-4, early in the fourth set, the Raiders won four straight points to edge out in front, 8-4. WSU maintained that lead and lead by five points, 18-13, as the Vikings were running out of time. However, Cleveland State won seven straight points to take the lead for the first time since early in the set. DeGeorge had a kill and two blocks in the run while Portis had two kills. Wright State came back to tie the match at 21, and the teams remained tied at 24. A Hall kill gave the Vikings a set point, which they cashed in on with a ball handling error.
The teams split the opening 10 points of the final set with neither side leading by more than one. The Raiders then won three straight and six of the next seven overall to take a five-point lead that proved too much for CSU to overcome.
