Volleyball Fights For Five-Set Victory At Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Behind a balanced offensive attack and a hard-fought effort, the Cleveland State volleyball team picked up its ninth straight victory Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-2 win at Horizon League foe Milwaukee. With the win, the Vikings now stand at 18-4 overall this season and 9-1 against league opponents.

Match Stats
· Cleveland State had a quartet of players finish with double-digit kills on the match, led by Grace Kauth with 16 kills.
· Aaliyah Slappy and Sara Skeens both notched 15 kills against Milwaukee, while Alexis Middlebrooks added 12 kills.
· Gina Kilner guided the Viking offense, recording 53 assists against the Panthers.
· Cleveland State had a pair of players with a .500 hitting percentage, as Aaliyah Slappy finished with a .522 clip (15-3-23) and Rachel Stover notched a .571 clip (4-0-7).
· Shannon Grega led the Viking defense with 19 digs, while Grace Kauth and Jordan Verbiak both added 14 digs and Gina Kilner tallied 10 digs.
· As a team, Cleveland State notched 15.0 total blocks, led by Aaliyah Slappy who notched eight total blocks.
· Alexis Middlebrooks added five blocks for the Vikings, while Grace Kauth recorded four and Sara Skeens and Gina Kilner both notched three blocks.

Match Notes
· Saturday's 3-2 victory at Milwaukee gave Cleveland State its second season sweep, as the Vikings also picked up a 3-2 victory against the Panthers at home earlier this season.
· The Vikings now own a 5-1 record in five-set matches this season.
· Cleveland State's victory at Milwaukee extended its current winstreak to nine straight matches, as the Vikings have now posted nine consecutive wins seven times under head coach Chuck Voss.
· Saturday's win also kept the Vikings perfect during the month of October, as Cleveland State is now 7-0 since the start of the month.
· With just two more road matches in Horizon League play this season, Cleveland State stands at a perfect 6-0 when playing away from home in league action.
· Following her 16-kill performance, Grace Kauth became just the fifth Viking all-time to record 1,350 career kills, finishing the match exactly on the number.
· Grace Kauth moved into seventh place in the CSU Career Record book in digs Saturday, finishing the match with 1,148 career digs after posting her 13th double-double of the year.
· Gina Kilner eclipsed the 2,800-assist mark after Saturday's match at Milwaukee, finishing the contest with 2,846 career helpers.
· After a five-block assist match against the Panthers, Alexis Middlebrooks moved into eighth place in the CSU Career Record book with 278 career block assists.
· Freshman Jordan Verbiak tied her season-high with 14 digs at Milwaukee.
