Vikings Split Matches On Final Day Of Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Cleveland State volleyball team wrapped up the non-league portion of its schedule Saturday, splitting a pair of matches against Arkansas State and Indiana at the Hoosier Classic. The Vikings, who finished non-league play with a 9-3 record, picked up a 3-1 victory against Arkansas State, before falling to Indiana, 3-0 in the tournament finale.

Hoosier Classic All-Tournament Team

Alexis Middlebrooks and Shannon Grega both earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, marking the second all-tournament honor for Middlebrooks this season and the first for Grega.

Middlebrooks finished the weekend with 36 kills and seven blocks, while Grega recorded 37 digs through the three matches this weekend.

Match Stats
· For the second straight match the Vikings had four players finish with double-digit kills, as Grace Kauth (13 kills), Aaliyah Slappy (12), Sara Skeens (12), and Alexis Middlebrooks (11) led the Viking offense.
· The trio of Grace Kauth (12 digs), Shannon Grega (12) and Gina Kilner (11) led the Viking defense against Arkansas State.
· Aaliyah Slappy tied her career-high with nine total blocks on the match, including two solo blocks.
· Alexis Middlebrooks and Sara Skeens both added four blocks each on the match.
· Gina Kilner recorded 43 assists against the Red Wolves.

Match Notes
· With the 3-1 victory against Arkansas State, head coach Chuck Voss notched his 300th career victory at Cleveland State. Voss is just the second active Horizon League coach to reach the milestone.
· With the win the Vikings also extended their current winstreak to five straight matches.
· This was the first meeting between Arkansas State and Cleveland State.
· With her 13-kill performance, Grace Kauth moved into ninth place on the CSU Career Kills list, ending the match with 1,210 kills.
· After tying her career-high with nine blocks, Aaliyah Slappy has now recorded at least three blocks in eight matches this season.

Match Stats
· Alexis Middlebrooks led the Viking offense with 10 kills on a .500 hitting percentage against Indiana.
· Grace Kauth posted a team-high nine digs, while Shannon Grega added eight and Jordan Verbiak posted seven.
· Rachael Dohar tallied three service aces on the match.

Match Notes
· With 29 assists on the match, Gina Kilner eclipsed the 2,400-assist mark for her career, ending the weekend with 2,422 assists. Kilner is one of just six Vikings all-time to reach the 2,400-assist milestone.
