Kilner Moves Up Career Assist List As Vikings Split Matches At Golden Dome Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Cleveland State volleyball team wrapped up its first weekend of the 2016 season Saturday, splitting a pair of matches at the Golden Dome Invitational. The Vikings picked up a 3-0 victory over Seton Hall in their tournament finale, while they fell to the host Notre Dame, 3-0 in their first match of the day. Cleveland State is now 2-1 on the young season.

Golden Dome Invitational All-Tournament Team
• Senior Grace Kauth and Junior Alexis Middlebrooks were both named to the Golden Dome Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Grace Kauth finished the weekend with 44 total kills, averaging 4.40 per set to lead the Vikings. Kauth also posted 36 digs throughout the three matches, recording double-doubles against Western Michigan and Notre Dame.
Alexis Middlebrooks posted 33 kills on the weekend, posting a team-best .391 clip. Middlebrooks also recorded nine blocks during the invite, including a team-high six against Seton Hall.

Match Stats
• Freshman Sara Skeens recorded the first double-digit kill performance of her collegiate career, recording 12 kills against Notre Dame.
Grace Kauth recorded her second straight double-double with a team-high 16 kills and 10 digs.
• Libero Shannon Grega led the Viking defense, recording 15 digs on the match.
• The trio of Alexis Middlebrooks, Aaliyah Slappy, and Gina Kilner all posted two blocks against Notre Dame.

Gina Kilner became the seventh Viking to eclipse the 2,000 career assist mark, finishing the match with 37 helpers.

CLEVELAND STATE 3, SETON HALL 0

Match Stats
Alexis Middlebrooks and Sydney Mast led the Viking offense against Seton Hall, both posting 10 kills.
Gina Kilner posted 28 assists, along with seven kills and eight digs on the match.
Rachael Dohar finished with a team-best 12 digs, while Grace Kauth added eight.
Alexis Middlebrooks notched a team-high six blocks, while Aaliyah Slappy added five blocks and Sydney Mast and Grace Kauth each posted three.

Match Notes
Gina Kilner moved into sixth place in the CSU career record book, ending the Golden Dome Invitational with 2,055 career assists.
• With the win, head coach Chuck Voss is now just one win shy of becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history and just seven wins shy of notching his 300th victory at Cleveland State.
• This marked the first matchup between Cleveland State and Seton Hall in program history.

• Cleveland State will play at home for the first time during the 2016 season next weekend, as the Vikings will host their annual CSU Invitational on Friday, September 2. Cleveland State will host Eastern Michigan (10:00 a.m.) and Tennessee (7:00 p.m.) during this year's invite.
