Vikings Fall To Valparaiso In Regular Season Finale

VALPARAISO, Ind. – Playing with an alternate lineup, the Cleveland State volleyball team fell at Valparaiso, 3-1 Saturday evening in the regular season finale. The Vikings finish regular season play with a 24-6 overall record and a 13-3 mark in Horizon League play.

Match Stats
· Sydney Mast led the Viking offense, posting a career-high 13 kills – the first double-digit kill match of her career.
· Aaliyah Slappy also posted double-digit kills for Cleveland State, finishing with 10 kills.
· Nikki Holmes served as Cleveland State's libero for the match, leading the team with a career-high 31 digs.
· Shannon Grega and Rachael Dohar also posted double-digit kills for CSU, Grega with 15 and Dohar with a career-high 10.
· Aaliyah Slappy tallied six blocks against Valparaiso, while Sydney Mast set a career-high with four blocks.

Match Notes
· The Vikings' 13 wins in Horizon League play this season is tied for the program best.
· With her 42 assists against Valparaiso, Gina Kilner became the eighth Viking all-time to surpass 1,800 assists, ending the match with 1,825 career helpers.
· Nikki Holmes' 31 digs against Valparaiso marked the first 30-dig match of the season for the Vikings and just the second 30-dig match of Holmes' career.
· Nikki Holmes now ranks sixth on the CSU career digs list, ending the match with 1,159 career digs.
· Grace Kauth is now just two kills shy of 1,000 for her career, and would become the 16th Viking all-time to reach the milestone.
