The Match
Despite getting off to a rough start and dropping the first set, Cleveland State bounced back and picked up victories in the next three frames, to earn the 3-1 win over the Phoenix. The Vikings still struggled throughout the entire second set as well, as CSU was never really able to distance itself from the Phoenix until the very end of the frame. After both teams traded points throughout the second set, the Vikings were finally able to put the set away with a pair of kills from Gina Kilner and Christina Toth to even the match at 1-1.

After the intermission, the Vikings came out on fire, as they were able to jump out to a 16-10 lead during the third frame. CSU was able to gain the six-point advantage on a pair of Grace Kauth kills, and then held at least a six-point lead for the remainder of the frame. Although Green Bay was able to hold off two set points, the Vikings were finally able to close the frame on another Kauth kill for the 25-17 set victory.

The fourth set was much of the same, as the Vikings were able to get out to an 18-11 lead midway through the frame, and then held the advantage for the rest of the set. After earning this seven-point lead on a Green Bay error and Toth kill, Cleveland State controlled play throughout the final part of the frame, earning the 25-18 victory on a Phoenix serving error.
