The Match
After getting out to a slow start during the opening set, Cleveland State was finally able to gain a lead at the 12-11 mark after posting five straight points, including back-to-back kills from Christina Toth to end the run. The two teams then traded points until YSU was able to regain the advantage at 17-14, before an 8-0 CSU run put the Vikings back on top at 22-17. The Vikings were then able to close out the set with a kill from Alexis Middlebrooks and a YSU error, earning the early 1-0 match lead.

During the second set both teams traded points throughout the opening part, until CSU gained a 15-10 advantage on a Toth kill. The Vikings then extended their lead to 18-12 following a Grace Kauth kill, and then held the advantage for the remainder of the frame. CSU finished off the frame with another Kauth kill, picking up the 25-16 set victory.

The third set was much like the first, as Cleveland State had to come-from-behind to gain a 12-10 lead on a Middlebrooks service ace. The Vikings then held the advantage for the remainder of the set, despite YSU staying within striking distance throughout the frame. The two teams traded points throughout the end of the final set, with Cleveland State finally putting the frame away with a Kauth kill.
