Volleyball Picks Up 3-0 Victory Over Milwaukee

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team continued Horizon League play Saturday afternoon, picking up a 3-0 victory over Milwaukee to remain undefeated in league action. Overall, the Vikings are now 13-3 on the season and have won five straight matches.

Match Stats
- Grace Kauth led the Viking offense with 13 kills, while Christina Toth chipped in 12.
- Gina Kilner notched 35 assists, leading Cleveland State to a .284 hitting percentage (45-14-109).
- Dayna Roberts had a team-high 13 digs, while Gina Kilner added eight and Grace Kauth notched 7.
- Alexis Middlebrooks and Christina Toth each posted three blocks.

The Match
The two teams traded points throughout the beginning of the first set, until Cleveland State went on a 4-0 run to gain a 17-12 advantage following a Grace Kauth kill. The Vikings then controlled play for the remainder of the frame, closing out the set on an 8-3 run that included kills from Kauth, Christina Toth, and Alexis Middlebrooks.

The second set was much of the same, as the Vikings were able to take control of the frame midway through, gaining a 13-7 advantage after a 3-1 run, with points off of kills from Kauth and Middlebrooks. The Vikings then held a sizable lead for the rest of the frame, ending the set on a Rachel Stover kill and a Milwaukee error.

After falling behind early in the third set, Cleveland State rebounded with six straight points to gain a 10-5 advantage on a Kauth kill. The Vikings then held the advantage for the remainder of the frame, including a nine-point lead at 20-11 following an Aaliyah Slappy kill. After Milwaukee closed the gap to just five points at 20-15, Cleveland State was able to tally five out of the last seven points to close the frame on a Middlebrooks kill.
