Vikings Fall To YSU In HL Tournament

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Cleveland State volleyball team concluded its 2014 season Friday evening, falling to Youngstown State in the First Round of the Horizon League Tournament. The Vikings, who fell to the Penguins by a score of 3-0, finished the 2014 season with a 14-14 overall record and a 7-7 mark in Horizon League action.

The Vikings were playing as the No. 5 seed in the Horizon League Tournament, while Youngstown State was the No. 4 seed. The Penguins will now face top-seeded Oakland in a semifinal match Saturday afternoon.

Set scores against the Penguins were 25-23, 25-17, 25-16.

Christina Toth had a team-best nine kills against YSU, while Maggie Hannon added seven. Gina Kilner recorded 28 assists and five kills, while Shannon Grega posted a team-best 10 digs.

Also adding to CSU's offense was Grace Kauth, who notched five kills, while Alexis Middlebrooks and Katie Mihalik each added four kills.

Toth had a team-best three blocks on the match, while Hannon added two and Mihalik posted one block.
