Trio Of Vikings Earn All-Horizon League Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced its 2014 Postseason Awards Monday afternoon, with Maggie Hannon, Grace Kauth, and Gina Kilner representing the Cleveland State volleyball team. Hannon and Kauth were both named to the All-Horizon League Team, while Kilner earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

This marks the eighth straight season that a Viking has earned All-League honors, while it is the eighth time out of the last nine years that CSU has had a representative on the All-Freshman team.

Maggie Hannon | Senior | MH
Hannon picked up All-League honors for the second time in her career, also picking up all-league accolades as a junior last season. Hannon has a team-best .279 hitting percentage on the season, while she ranks seventh among Horizon League players. Throughout the regular season, Hannon averaged 2.67 kills per set and recorded double-digit kills in 14 matches.

The Commerce Township, Michigan native etched her name in two CSU career record book categories this season – Career Hitting Percentage (.297 – 6th) and Career Block Assists (252 – 10th).

Earlier this season Hannon was named to the Preseason All-League Team, and was named a finalist for the National Senior CLASS Award. She also picked up All-Tournament Team honors twice, and was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on October 6.

Grace Kauth | Sophomore | OH
Kauth picked up All-League accolades for the first time in her career, after earning All-Freshman Team honors last season. Kauth has a team-best 272 kills on the season, and is averaging 2.78 kills per set – a mark that ranks her ninth among league players. She also has 293 digs on the season – one of just six players in the Horizon League to have at least 250 kills and 250 digs this season.

Throughout the regular season, Kauth has notched nine double-doubles, while she has been Cleveland State's top offensive threat during 11 contests.

Earlier this season Kauth was named to the Jayhawk Classic All-Tournament Team, and earned Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week accolades on November 10.

Gina Kilner | Freshman | S
Kilner earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team after stepping in as CSU's primary setter midway through the season. Kilner has appeared in all 27 matches this season, and has recorded a team-high 506 assists. Entering the Horizon League Tournament, Kilner ranks eighth among league players, averaging 5.50 assists per set.

Kilner has notched 20 or more assists in nine matches this season, and 40 or more in three matches, with a career-high 49 coming against Youngstown State earlier this season.
