QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will close out its three-match homestand this weekend, hosting Youngstown State in its lone contest on Friday, October 17. The Vikings enter the weekend with a 10-9 overall record and a 3-3 mark in Horizon League play. Friday's 7:00 p.m. contest against the Penguins will mark the final match of the first round of league matchups.

THE MATCH-UP // YOUNGSTOWN STATE
This will be the 68th meeting between the two teams, with Cleveland State owning a 52-15 record in the overall series. Under head coach Chuck Voss, the Vikings own a 26-3 record against the Penguins.

Youngstown State enters the weekend with a 4-2 mark in league play, ranking fourth in the standings, and has won four of its last five matches. 

LAST TIME OUT
For the third straight weekend the Vikings split thier matches last time out, defeating Green Bay, 3-0, and falling to league-leading Milwaukee by a matching score.

SLAPPY RECORDS CAREER-BEST PERFORMANCE VS. GREEN BAY
Sophomore Aaliyah Slappy was a main part of CSU's blocking effort against Green Bay last weekend, posting a career-high eight block assists. For the season, Slappy is averaging 0.81 blocks per set, while she is averaging 1.05 blocks per set in league matches only.

…KILNER FOLLOWS SUIT
For the first time this season, freshman Gina Kilner served as CSU's primary setter against Green Bay, notching a career-high 38 assists. Kilner, who ranks ninth in the Horizon League averaging 4.89 assists per set, guided the Vikings to a .258 team hitting percentage against the Phoenix. She also recorded a career-high eight kills, seven digs, and two blocks against Green Bay. 

HANNON HITS OFFENSIVE STRIDE
Senior Maggie Hannon had her best offensive weekend of the season last time out, combining for 21 kills on a .528 hitting percentage against Milwaukee and Green Bay. Hannon recorded above a .500 hitting percentage against both opponents (Milwaukee - .533, Green Bay - .524), leading the Viking offense in both matches. For the season, Hannon has a .291 hitting percentage which ranks fourth among Horizon League players.

TEAM BLOCKING EFFORT
For the sixth time this season the Vikings recorded double-digit team blocks, posting 10 against Green Bay last weekend. Through the first 19 matches Cleveland State has tallied 158 total team blocks, and is averaging 2.39 blocks per set - a mark that currently ranks 10th on the CSU single-season record list. 

VIKINGS IN THE LEAGUE STANDINGS
Entering the weekend, Cleveland State ranks in the top-three among Horizon League teams in digs per set (2nd - 17.12), blocks per set (2nd - 2.39), and service aces (3rd - 1.29). CSU's 13 service aces against Tennessee Tech earlier this year still stands as a single-match high among league teams, while the Vikings' 14-block performance versus Toledo ranks third among league teams this season. Cleveland State is one of just two league teams to average at least 17.00 digs per set throughout the first part of the season, with the 90-dig effort against Oakland ranking as the fourth highest single-match total.

…AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS
Cleveland State also ranks in the top-75 nationally in digs per set (14th) and blocks per set (62rd), while Nikki Holmes ranks 42nd nationally averaging 4.78 digs per set. Holmes also ranks second in the league, and has posted a team-best 244 digs this season.
