Hannon Tabbed Horizon League Defensive Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State volleyball team picked up its second weekly honor of the season Monday afternoon, as senior middle hitter Maggie Hannon was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the first weekly accolade for Hannon this season and the third for her career.

Last weekend Hannon posted a league-best 13 blocks in two matches against UIC and Valparaiso. On the season, Hannon has a team-high 62 total blocks and ranks fourth among league players averaging 1.03 blocks per set.

In the first contest of the weekend, Hannon tied her career-high with 10 blocks against the Flames - including a career-best four solo blocks. The 10-block performance is tied for the second best single-match total among league players this season, while Hannon is now one of just three league players to record a double-digit block match this year.

Hannon followed this up with three-blocks against Valparaiso, notching three or more blocks for the 11th time this season.

For her career, Hannon has tallied 227 block assists and is just short of cracking the top-10 list in the CSU career record book. She has also recorded 31 solo blocks during her tenure.

Hannon and the Vikings will continue Horizon League play this weekend, hosting Milwaukee (Friday, Oct. 10) and Green Bay (Saturday, Oct. 11).
