Vikings Drop 3-1 Contest At Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Cleveland State volleyball team continued its Horizon League roadswing Saturday afternoon, falling to Valparaiso, 3-1. The Vikings now stand at 9-8 overall and own an even 2-2 record in league play.

Set scores against Valparaiso were 25-9, 25-17, 22-25, 25-17.

The Vikings had an even offensive attack against the Crusaders, with Maggie Hannon posting a team-high eight kills, while Alexis Middlebrooks, Grace Kauth, Christina Toth, and Aaliyah Slappy each posted seven kills. Dayna Roberts and Gina Kilner once again split setting duties, Roberts notching 19 assists and Kilner posting 18 assists.

Cleveland State had three players record double-digit digs on the match, Kauth with a team-high 14, and Ally Beck and Shannon Grega each with 11. Hannon and Toth both recorded a team-high three blocks against Valparaiso.

Next weekend the Vikings will begin a three-match homestand, opening the stretch against Milwaukee on Friday, October 10. CSU will also face Green Bay (Oct. 11) and Youngstown State (Oct. 17) during this stretch.
