INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After leading the Vikings to a pair of league victories last weekend, Cleveland State senior Kara Koch has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week. The league made the announcement Monday (Oct. 29) afternoon.

Last weekend Koch led the Vikings to matching 3-1 victories over UIC and Loyola, improving CSU's overall record to 18-6 this season and 10-1 in league play. Entering the seventh week of league play CSU has a strong hold on first place in the standings with three matches left to play this season.

Against UIC Koch posted 23 kills, her ninth 20-kill match of the season, along with 18 digs and two assists. The following night she posted 12 kills and 11 digs against Loyola, to mark her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season, respectively. On the weekend, Koch combined for 35 kills (4.38 per set) and 29 digs (3.62 per set).

Following the two matches last weekend, Koch now has 1,480 kills on her career (2nd in CSU history), 1,645 points (2nd in CSU history) and 4,093 attack attempts (CSU record). She is also just 34 digs shy of reaching 1,000 for her career, and would become the fifth Viking to record both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs on their career.

Koch and the Vikings will close out the regular season with a three-match homestand, beginning with two contests this weekend. CSU will host Wright State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 2) and will then host Valparaiso at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 3).
