CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State volleyball team will head to Lawrence, Kan., and play 11th-seeded Kansas in a first round NCAA Championship match on Friday (Nov. 30) at 7:30 p.m. EST

The pairings for the 64-team field were announced on Sunday afternoon on ESPNU.

This will be CSU's second appearance all-time in the NCAA Championship. The Vikings also played in the NCAA tournament in 2007, falling to Albany in the first round at Penn State.

"This is an exciting time for our program and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament," head coach Chuck Voss said. "We have worked hard all season to get to this moment and we are going to work hard in practice this week and represent Cleveland State and the Horizon League in the tournament as best we can."

This will be just the second all-time meeting in volleyball between CSU and Kansas. The Jayhawks earned a 3-1 win over the Vikings in the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational on Sept. 12, 2008.

The Vikings will enter the NCAA Championship with a 23-6 record, having won both the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles. CSU blew through its league slate with a 13-1 mark, winning the regular season crown by three matches.

CSU then defeated Loyola and UIC to win the league tournament title and the Horizon League's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

The Vikings have won 13 straight matches.

The 20th-ranked Jayhawks are 25-6 this season and were 12-4 in league play.

Wichita State and Arkansas will meet in the other first round match at Kansas at 5:00 p.m. EST with the two winners playing a second round contest on Saturday (Dec. 1) at 7:30 p.m. EST.
