Vikings Post Strong Performance At Ball State Challenge

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Cleveland State track & field team once again had a solid performance, as the Vikings continued their outdoor slate at the Ball State Challenge this weekend.

Sprints
Cleveland State recorded two program records in the sprint events Saturday, as Monica Johnson set a top time in the 100 Meter Hurdles and Tylar Mixon recorded a program-best in the 200 Meter Dash. Johnson finished 10th overall in a time of 14.74 in the 100 Meter Hurdles, while Mixon placed 11th in the 200 Meter Dash after crossing the finish line in 25.08.

Mixon also had Cleveland State's top time in the 100 Meter Dash, finishing 13th in 12.30, while Caprece Conrad represented the Vikings in the 400 Meter Dash (1:05.34).

Mid Distance
Cleveland State's top finish in the mid-distance events came in the 1500 Meter Run, as Heather McArdle finished in 4:59.85, marking just the fourth sub five-minute time in program history. Deja Emmanus paced the Vikings in the 800 Meter Run, finishing 31st in a time of 2:24.71, which ranks fourth on the top-times list.

Distance
In the distance events, Lily Michael had Cleveland State's top finish, placing 11th in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 13:20.48. The Vikings also had two runners in the 5000 Meter Run, including Abbey Rojeck who crossed the finish line in 19:43.44 and Graicen Riley who finished in 20:20.97.

Relays
Cleveland State was represented in both the 4x100 and 4x400 Relays Saturday, with the Vikings finishing seventh in the 4x400 (4:18.18) and eighth in the 4x100 (49.02).

Field
Monica Johnson led the Vikings in the field events Saturday, posting a program record mark of 5.13 in the Long Jump in her first appearance in the event. Julianne Dorothal was the lone Viking to compete in the Shot Put (10.70) and High Jump (1.50), while Hannah Gaskins paced the Vikings in the Javelin (28.10).

The Vikings will continue their outdoor season next weekend, splitting time between the Ashland Alumni Open and the CWRU Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
