4x800 Relay Highlights Final Day Of 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Cleveland State track and field team continued its strong start to the outdoor season Saturday, as the Vikings wrapped up action at the 49er Classic by setting three program records.

Sprints
The lone sprint event of the day was the 200 Meter Dash, with Tylar Mixon leading the Vikings with a time of 25.93. Mixon's time marked the second fastest time in program history, while it was just the third sub 26-second mark for Cleveland State.

Mid Distance
Anna Brandt recorded her second program record in as many races on the weekend in the 800 Meter Run, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:16.55 to finish 11th overall. Korrin Spurlock (2:32.44) and Heather McArdle (2:34.03) also participated in the event for the Vikings.

Distance
Cleveland State's lone distance event on Saturday was the 3000 Meter Run, with Graicen Riley posting a time of 11:01.57.

Relays
The Vikings competed in three relays on the day, highlighted by a program record time in the 4x800 Meter Relay when the quartet of Deja Emmanus, Mijah Collier, Deanna Swinerton, and Adelle Tannous crossed the finish line in 9:58.13 to finish fifth overall. Cleveland State also participated in the 4x100 Meter Relay (48.60) and the 4x400 Meter Relay (4:20.60).

Field
In Cleveland State's lone field event of the weekend, Hannah Gaskins placed fourth in the High Jump, tying the program record with a mark of 1.63. This also marked a career-best for Gaskins in the event.
