Vikings Have Strong Showing To Close Out 2019 #HLTF Indoor Championship

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team had a strong final day at the 2019 Horizon League Indoor Championship, as the Vikings finished sixth as a team with 41 points. For the championship, the Vikings collected three All-League honors and 10 podium finishes

Sprints
The Vikings had two runners in the 60 Meter Hurdle finals, with Monica Johnaon and Mijah Collier both earning a spot in the race following yesterday's prelims. Johnson placed third in the finals with a program record time of 8.84, while Collier placed sixth in 9.01. Johnson, who bettered her mark from yesterday's prelims to set a new record, earned Honorable Mention All-League honors with her performance.

Tylar Mixon represented the Vikings in the 60 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash, finishing fourth in the 200 with a time of 25.22 and fifth in the 60 with a time of 7.79. Mixon's time in the 200 bettered her mark from the prelims yesterday, and set a program record in the event.

Mid Distance
After posting a CSU record in the 400 Meter Dash prelims yesterday, Mijah Collier placed eighth in the finals event on Sunday, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:00.00 flat.

Distance
The Vikings earned a podium finish in the Mile Run, as Anna Brandt placed eighth with a time of 5:08.05, while Jessica Finley had Cleveland State's best finish in the 3000 Meter Run placing 23rd in 10:54.78.

Field
Hannah Gaskins was the lone field competitor for the Vikings on Sunday, as she was just shy of earning All-League honors in the High Jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 1.66. Gaskins bettered her mark from the Pentathlon high jump event yesterday, and was just shy of tying the program record that she set at last year's #HLTF Championship.

Relays
Cleveland State's 4x400 Relay team of Anna Brandt, Tylar Mixon, Mijah Collier, and Hannah Gaskins placed third in a record setting time of 3:57.11, earning Honorable Mention All-League honors.
