Vikings Continue Indoor Season At Spire Invitational/Penn State National

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team will continue its indoor slate this weekend, competing at the Spire Invitational (Friday, January 25 & Saturday, January 26) and Penn State National (Saturday, January 26).

Complete Spire Invitational Schedule | A trio of running events will take place on Friday, January 25, while the bulk of the running and field events will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26. 

Brandt Earns Entry Into Penn State National | After posting a pair of 5:00 flat miles earlier this season, sophomore Anna Brandt earned an invitation to race in the event at the Penn State National this weekend. Brandt will be one of 35 runners competing in the Mile Run, and will join Youngstown State's Jennifer Muhlenkamp to represent the Horizon League.

Complete Penn State National Schedule | The Mile Run is slated for a 12:15 p.m. start on Saturday, January 26.

CSU Record Book | The Vikings enter the fifth weekend of the indoor season having already set seven individual records this year, along with posting 22 additional top-five marks. Anna Brandt has been responsible for three of the CSU records this season (500, 800, Mile), while Monica Johnson (60H), Tylar Mixon (200), Mijah Collier (300), and Jessica Finley (5000) have also recorded top times.

Horizon League Times | Entering the weekend, Cleveland State is ranked in the top-five among Horizon League runners in four events, including Anna Brandt who continues to lead the league in the 800 Meter Run (2:14.75). Brandt also ranks second in the Mile, while Jessica Finley ranks second in the 5000 Meter Run, and Cleveland State's 4x400 Relay team of Brandt, Hannah Gaskins, Tylar Mixon, and Lauren Zawie ranks fifth.

The Vikings | Cleveland State is under the direction of third-year head coach Madeleine Outman Carleton, and returns 11 letterwinners from last year's indoor squad. Included in this group is the trio of Anna Brandt, Julianne Dorothal and Hannah Gaskins, who all earned podium finishes at the #HLTF Indoor Championships last season.
