ASHLAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State track and field team competed in its final tune-up before the Horizon League Championship Saturday, participating in the Ashland Alumni Invitational.
Cleveland State's top finish came in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, as Karen Barrientos finished as the runner-up with a time of 11:32.33.
The Vikings got another pair of top-five finishes from Alexandria Derkacs and Samantha Butterbaugh then, with Derkacs placing fourth in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:06.23, and Butterbaugh finishing fifth in the 1500 Meter Run (4:52.41).
Jessica Finley recorded a top-10 finish for the Vikings, placing 10th in the 5000 Meter Run, crossing the finish line in a time of 18:56.86.
In the lone relay finish for the Vikings, Cleveland State placed fifth in the 4x400 Meter Relay with a time of 4:26.77.
Cleveland State's final meet of the season will be the Horizon League Championship, which will take place at Youngstown State from Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7.
