Women's Tennis Signs Pair

Dec. 4, 2002

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State head tennis coach Brian Etzkin has announced the signing of a pair of high school seniors to National Letters of Intent. Sarah Galon (Waianae, Hawaii) and Morgan Ungerott (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) both inked with the Vikings during the early signing period.

Galon was a 2001 state doubles finalist at Leilehua High School. She finished last year with a United States Tennis Association national singles ranking of 177.

"Sarah has the potential to develop into one of the top players in our conference," said Etzkin. "We are looking for her to play near the top of the lineup during her freshman year."

Ungerott posted a 25-7 record her senior year at Cuyahoga Falls High School and finished her career with a 96-26 record. She also plays point guard on the Black Tiger basketball squad.

"Morgan will come in and make an immediate impact in the middle of the lineup," noted Etzkin. "She is one of the most athletically gifted athletes I have ever recruited. I expect Morgan's improvement to be dramatic as she goes from being a two-sport athlete to putting 100 percent into tennis."

"This is an exciting time for Cleveland State University Tennis," proclaimed Etzkin. "Both Sarah and Morgan are great students and outstanding athletes. These two players will be the base for building a winning women's tennis program here in Cleveland."
