INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State senior Catrine Bjerrehus was named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Tuesday morning, earning the honor for the week of Monday, April 16 - Sunday, April 22. Over the final weekend of regular season play, Bjerrehus led the Vikings to wins over Butler and Wright State, giving CSU a 7-1 record in league play.

"Catrine did a great job this weekend and has been doing a great job for us all season," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "It was great to see her get a win over an opponent that she didn't get last year and she has been showing signs of progress throughout the entire season. Hopefully this weekend she can help lead us to a championship at the league tournament."

Bjerrehus, who is the third Viking to earn the honor this season, posted a 3-6, 6-0, 10-5 win against Butler and a 6-0, 6-2 win against Wright State, both at No. 1 singles. Following last weekend's matches, Bjerrehus now has 61 career singles wins, just the fourth Viking all-time to notch 60 victories.

In doubles play, she teamed up with Maria Lazaris to claim a pair of victories at No. 1 doubles, giving them a team-best 11 wins on the season. The duo claimed a 9-8(1) victory against Butler and an 8-0 win over Wright State.

Next up for Bjerrehus and the Vikings will be a semifinal contest in the Horizon League Championship on Saturday, April 28, where they will face either No. 3 Milwaukee or No. 6 Detroit. CSU earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming tournament and received a bye to the semifinals.
