CLEVELAND, Ohio - After winning both of her doubles matches and splitting two singles contests last week, Cleveland State freshman Alex Bush (Vienna, W. Va.) has been selected as the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

The league office made the announcement on Tuesday (March 1) afternoon.

"This is a well deserved honor for Alex because she really played well in her matches last week," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "She has been working extremely hard to improve every day and we are seeing results during her first year."

Bush went 2-0 in doubles action and 1-1 at No. 5 singles on the week.

Playing at No. 2 in both doubles matches, Bush and Alex Power persevered for a 9-8(4) victory versus Toledo on Friday before breezing past their competition from Western Michigan, 8-4, on Saturday.

Against the Broncos, Bush won in straight sets at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 7-6.

The win enabled Bush to extend her team-lead to 13 singles wins.

CSU is back in action on Sunday (March 6) when the Vikings host a pair of matches, beginning with a 10:00 a.m. contest at Akron. CSU will then return home later in the day to host Oakland at 5:00 p.m. at Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake.
