VALPARAISO, Ind. - For the fourth time this season the Cleveland State women's tennis team swept all nine matches, as the Vikings defeated Valparaiso 7-0 Sunday afternoon. With the win, Cleveland State improves to 13-8 overall this season and 5-1 in Horizon League play.

"We were in total control throughout today's match, I thought we really responded well from yesterday and came out wanting to win this match," assistant coach Jay Tee said. "The entire team was really focused on trying to improve and that is what they did. Today's win puts us in a good position heading into next weekend and our final two regular season matches."

The Vikings allowed Valparaiso to claim just four points throughout all three doubles matches, easily picking up the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles Catrine Bjerrehus and Maria Lazaris posted an 8-1 victory, at No. 2 doubles Alex Power and Alex Bush earned an 8-2 win and the No. 3 doubles team of Nicole Janek and Kara Sherwood recorded their team-leading 10th doubles victory with an 8-1 decision.

Cleveland State then cruised through the singles matches, picking up the 7-0 victory, their fourth of the year. Bjerrehus picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while Maria Lazaris earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position.

Sherwood, who is now just two wins away from her first 20-win season, posted her fifth straight victory at the No. 3 spot, earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory against the Crusaders. Bush, Janek and Power each claimed 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively, Power marking her seventh straight victory and Janek marking her fourth win out of the last five matches.

Cleveland State will close out the regular season next weekend, hosting Butler and Wright State. CSU will face the Bulldogs on Saturday, April 21 and the Raiders on Sunday, April 22 with both matches set for an 11:00 a.m. start.
