Orlando, Fla.-With three wins already on record in Orlando the Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out its spring training trip with a 7-0 victory over Wagner College Tuesday afternoon. The men, however, fell short, losing 6-1 to Binghamton University on their second day of competition.

Cleveland State started the day strong as the women swept Wagner in both doubles and singles. Sarah Galon and Morgan Ungerott lead the way, shutting out Brittany Frazza and Maria Phillpotts, 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 pair of Lindsay Sellers and Kristin Chamberlain, and No. 3 Jenn Myers and Christine Vogelgesang both downed their opponents 8-3.

The Vikings continued to play strong is singles with 6-0, 6-0 shut outs at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles. CSU won all six of their singles matches in two sets.

"The women finished out the trip on a positive note today with another win," said coach Brian Etzkin. "We're fortunate to have gotten a head start on some of the other teams we'll face this year by playing some outdoor tennis."

On a seven-match winning streak, No. 2 Myers boosted her overall record to 18-7. Chamberlain, Galon, Ungerott and Vogelgesang all won their fourth consecutive match.

"Jenn is just on fire this season," said Etzkin. "I hoped for this kind of development in her by her second year and it's great to see. She's moving really well on the court."

The women close out their spring break trip with a 4-0 record.

In men's tennis action, CSU struggled to find its groove, falling 6-1 to Binghamton University. The Vikings lost all six of their singles matches to the three-time defending America East Champions.

"We got beat by a very good team today," said Etzkin. "They've won their conference three years running and are just a very deep team from one to six."

Richemn Mourad defeated Olivier Dhaine in the closest match of the day, 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-5. Today's loss ended Dhaines four-match winning streak.

Despite being out of contention for a victory, the Vikings came back in doubles action, winning two of their three matches and earning their lone point of the day.

No. 1 Dhaine and Jay Tee claimed their fifth straight win with a 9-7 victory over Brian O'Connor and Edwin Gerard. The No. 3 pair of Brad Groleski and Steven Wipprecht also pulled through with an 8-6 win over Alex Dobrin and Falsal Mohamed. They are now 3-3 for the year.

The men play again tomorrow against Farleigh Dickinson University and the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse at 8:00a.m. and noon, respectively.
