BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Mengdi Liu posted her second straight singles victory, and picked up Cleveland State's lone point of the day, as the women's tennis team fell at No. 66 Indiana, 6-1. The loss drops CSU to 7-5, while the Hoosiers improve to 10-3 on the season.

"Today we were close in a lot of the matches, but I thought we put a little too much pressure on some important points and we weren't able to pull out the victories. We missed too many points early on in some matches and we couldn't recover," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Our No. 1 doubles team of Catrine and Alex has continued to improve every time they are on the court, and today wasn't any different. I'm impressed with the way our doubles lineup has evolved over the past couple weeks."

CSU's No. 1 doubles team of Catrine Bjerrehus and Alex Power dropped a close 8-6 match against the Hoosiers Sunday, while Nicole Janek and Maria Lazaris dropped an 8-3 match at No. 3 doubles and Mengdi Liu and Kara Sherwood dropped an 8-0 decision at the No. 2 spot.

Liu, who has been victorious in four of her last five singles matches, claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win over Diana Kyllmann at the No. 6 spot to give the Vikings their only point of the night. Sherwood dropped a heartbreaking match to Carolyn Chupa at No. 3 singles, as Sherwood earned a 6-2 victory in the first set and then dropped the next two sets, 6-1, 7-6.

"Mengdi and Kara both had great singles matches for us today, including Mengdi's win at No. 6 singles," Etzkin said. "Kara had a great battle at the No. 3 spot and I really thought she deserved to win that one because she played well enough to win. Now we will go down south and play outdoors for the first time this spring and prepare for the conference portion of our schedule."

The Vikings will return to action next weekend when they travel to Florida for three matches over Spring break. Cleveland State will open the trip with a with a 10:00 a.m. match at Embry-Riddle on Sunday (March 11), then they will face Florida Atlantic at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday (March 14) before playing Albany at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (March 15).
