Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Falls In #HLTennis Championship Match

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team had its 2023-24 season come to an end Sunday, falling in the championship match of the 2024 Horizon League Tournament. After advancing to the team's sixth championship match in program history, the Vikings dropped a 4-2 match to Chicago State in Sunday's title contest.

Cleveland State was able to pick up the early doubles point, earning matching 6-4 wins at No. 1 doubles from Oihane Vicario/Sima Heren and No. 3 doubles from Filippa Frogner/Mikaela Konstantinova.

After Chicago State evened the match with a win at the top of the lineup, Heren put the Vikings back on top with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.

Chicago State was then able to pick up wins at No. 6, No. 5 and No. 4, claiming the 4-2 victory.

All-time, the Vikings have earned a spot in 17 #HLTennis semifinals, and sixth #HLTennis championships.

Cleveland State's doubles team of Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz finished the season with a program record 26 wins on the year, while Vicario ended the season tied for third on the single-season wins list with 25 victories.

Bethany Yauch finished her Viking career tied for eighth on the singles wins list with 70 victories - one of 10 Vikings all-time to reach the milestone.
