Franz & Heren Named To #HLTennis All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2024 Valeo Women's Tennis All-Academic Team Thursday, with the Cleveland State duo of Ella Franz and Sima Heren earning spots on the six-member team.

This marks the first #HLTennis All-Academic honor for Franz and Heren, while it marks the fifth straight season that a Viking has been named to the team.

Franz, who is a member of the Cleveland State Honors College, currently holds a 3.89 grade point average in biology with a pre-med focus. The Delaware, Ohio native is an annual member of the CSU Dean's List, while also earning a spot on the Horizon League Honor Roll last fall.

On the court, Franz is part of a doubles team that set the CSU Single-Season Wins record earlier this year, and currently stands at 25-4 on the year with Tereze Vevere. In addition, this duo also ranks second on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 41 career wins.

Heren is currently pursuing a degree in finance, holding a 3.94 grade point average. The Sandvika, Norway native has earned a spot on the CSU Dean's List every semester of her collegiate career, while she is also a three-time Horizon League Honor Roll recipient.

On the court, Heren is one of three Vikings with 20+ singles wins on the year, currently owning a 21-11 overall record, including a 13-7 mark primarily playing at the No. 2 spot this spring. Earlier this year, Heren eclipsed the 50-win mark for her career, and is closing in on becoming the fourth active Viking to reach the 60-win milestone.
