Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Notches 7-0 Win Over Northern Kentucky

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out its home slate Sunday, picking up a 7-0 sweep over Northern Kentucky. With the win, the Vikings are now 12-9 on the year and 4-1 in Horizon League matches.

The Vikings were able to earn the early 1-0 advantage after picking up the doubles point, getting wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. At the top of the lineup, Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario posted a 6-2 win, while Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz posted a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Heren gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead to begin singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles, while Selma Tounsi earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 spot to put the Vikings up 3-0.

Cleveland State's clinching point came at No. 3 singles then, as Vevere earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory to give the Vikings a 2-0 record on the weekend.

The Vikings then got singles wins from Vicario at the top of the lineup (6-4, 6-3), Bethany Yauch at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-2) and Franz at the No. 5 spot (6-2, 7-6(4)).

Cleveland State will close out the regular season next weekend, traveling to Oakland on Saturday, April 20.
