Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Closes Out Home Slate Against IUPUI & Northern Kentucky

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will close out its 2024 home slate this weekend, hosting IUPUI on Saturday, April 13 and Northern Kentucky on Sunday, April 14.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings split their roadswing at Milwaukee and Chicago State, picking up a 5-2 win against the Panthers before dropping a hard-fought 4-3 decision against the Cougars.  

In The #HLTennis Standings
Entering the final two weeks of regular season play, the Vikings are tied for second in the #HLTennis standings, currently owning a 2-1 record in league play. With three matches left to play, the Vikings still have a chance to finish regular season play at the top of the standings.  

Vicario Notches 20-Win Season
With a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win at Milwaukee last weekend, Oihane Vicario recorded her 20th singles win of the season, marking her third straight 20-win campaign. Vicario, who has a team-best 21-9 record on the year, owns a perfect 3-0 record against league opponents at the top of the lineup. 

…Joins 60-Win Trio
In addition to reaching the 20-win milestone on the season, Vicario also eclipsed 60 wins for her career last weekend, joining Bethany Yauch and Tereze Vevere in the 60-win club. Entering Saturday's match against IUPUI Yauch has a team-best 66 wins, while Vevere and Vicario both own 61 singles victories. 

Vevere & Franz Move Into 2nd Place On CSU Doubles Wins List
After picking up a 6-2 victory at Milwaukee, the Cleveland State doubles team of Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz moved into second place on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 40 career victories. The duo is one of just two teams all-time to record 40+ wins, while they also improved on their single-season record with 24 wins so far this year.  

Final Homestand At The MMTP
This weekend's matches will mark the 10th and 11th home matches for the Vikings this season, as Cleveland State stands at 5-4 when playing at home this year. This weekend's contests will put a wrap on the eighth complete season of play inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion for the Vikings.
