Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the fifth time this season the Cleveland State women's tennis team has swept the Horizon League weekly awards, as Oihane Vicario was named the Singles Player of the Week and Vicario and Sima Heren earned Doubles Team of the Week honors. This marks the third time that Vicario has been named the Singles Player of the Week, while it marks the first weekly honor for Vicario and Heren.

Last time out, Vicario and Heren helped the Vikings pick up back-to-back 7-0 sweeps over Duquesne and Niagara, entering #HLTennis play with an even 8-8 record on the year.

"This is a well deserved honor for Oihane and Sima, they both had a great week of practice and it showed on the court," head coach Frank Polito said. "They have both been working extremely hard throughout the non-league slate, and I'm excited to see what's to come during league play."

In singles, Vicario picked up a pair of straight-set wins, earning a 7-5, 6-1 win against Duquesne and a 7-5, 7-6(5) win against Niagara. With the two wins, Vicario now has a team-best 18-9 singles record on the year, including a 10-6 mark this spring.

For her career, Vicario is closing in on 60 singles wins, entering #HLTennis play with 58 career victories.

In doubles, Vicario and Heren picked up a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles, playing as a tandem for the first time this season. The duo picked up matching 6-2 wins against Duquesne and Niagara, helping the Vikings earn the doubles points on both matches.
