Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Picks Up 7-0 Victory Over Duquesne

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team got back in the win column Friday, picking up a 7-0 sweep over Duquesne.

The Vikings were able to get the early 1-0 advantage after picking up the doubles point, getting wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At the top of the lineup, Oihane Vicario and Sima Heren posted a 6-2 win, while Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz earned a 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot.

Cleveland State quickly added to its lead with a 6-4, 6-1 win from Heren at No. 2 singles, while Franz picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 5 spot to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.

Vicario clinched the match for the Vikings at the top of the lineup, earning a 7-5, 6-1 win.

The Vikings then added singles wins from Filippa Frogner (No. 6 - 7-5, 6-0), Bethany Yauch (No. 4 - 6-3, 7-5) and Vevere (No. 3 - 6-3, 7-6(3)), picking up the 7-0 sweep over Duquesne.

The Vikings will close out their non-league slate on Sunday, hosting Niagara at 2:00 p.m.
