Heren Notches 50th Victory As Vikings Defeat Bowling Green, 6-1

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team returned to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion Friday, picking up a 6-1 victory over Bowling Green. With the win, the Vikings improve to 5-3 overall this season.

Cleveland State was able to pick up the early doubles point, earning wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Filippa Frogner and Selma Tounsi earned a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot, while Ella Franz and Tereze Vevere posted a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Vikings quickly added to their lead at the start of singles, as Sima Heren earned a 6-1, 3-1, retired victory at No. 2 singles, marking her 50th career singles win.

Cleveland State then gained a 3-0 advantage following a 6-1, 6-0 win from Vevere at No. 3 singles, while Oihane Vicario clinched the match for the Vikings with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the top of the lineup.

Bowling Green was able to get on the board with a win at No. 6 singles, but Yauch and Frogner closed out the match with the final two points for the Vikings.

Yauch notched a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles, while Frogner battled for a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(5) win at the No. 5 spot.

Cleveland State will continue its spring slate next weekend, hosting Western Michigan and St. Bonaventure on Saturday, February 24.
